Intermountain Precious Metals of Idaho poured 5, 10, and 25 oz ingots with an uppercase “IPM” hallmark — don’t confuse them with the 1960s–70s lowercase “ipm” ingots of the unrelated International Precious Metals of Las Vegas. The tell: Intermountain’s IPM bars have no serial numbers, while the Vegas ones do. (The Vegas bars were contract-cast by Hercaimy Enterprises/Fosters Co. of Walla Walla, Washington — a completely separate operation.)
Intermountain was based in Idaho’s Treasure Valley, with business listings placing them in Boise, Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell over the years. At least some of their ingots were contract-poured by Cascade Refining around 1980 — one documented ~10 oz example carries an inverted IPM stamp, with an estimated mintage under 10. The company appears to have continued on as a bullion dealer; later listings show it operating under owner Nathan Young.
